Sikorsky Helicopters to serve the Military

Within next 5 years Sikorsky will complete building its two prototypes super fast helicopters to serve the US Army

Sikorsky is building helicopters for US Army fitted with X2 technologies to meet the Armys specification. The company on October 20, 2010 announced that they will be producing tow prototypes for the Army

The Sikorsky built helicopters for military will be super fast, employed with coaxial system.

The new Raider helicopters will be added with evaluative and diagnostic equipment to meet the military contract. The Raider helicopter will be simple but with extraordinary skills.


For evolution the X2 was raced friendly with Bell 407. the X2 could flew 220 knots equipped with coaxial system. the 220 knots figure was considered less as the helicopter had reached 250 knots in their test a month ago.

The Armed Ariel Scout (AAS) which uses OH-58 Kiowa Warriors would be replaced with the retiring date by 2020. Kiowa’s day and night missions will be continued by new helicopters which includes things like discovering targets, watching transport troops and attacking gunships.

With a multi billion dollar contract, Sikorsky plans to complete the two prototypes within 5 year time.

According to Jeff Pino the president of Sikorsky, there is lot of interest in such high technologies by Special Forces, the marine and the navy. There can also be application of such technologies in the air force and even for commercial customers.
