Fairchild Dornier 328JET is a travel aircraft that is perfect to haul passengers. The particular aircraft is based on turboprop powered 328 Dornier.

The design of the aircraft was the initially proposed by the Dorniuer luftfahrt Gmbh which is a German company. But before the production of the 328 could start the airliner was taken over by Fairchild Aircraft which is a US aerospace company. The new company started the production of the Dornier 328 in Germany and made sales arrangement in Texas, San Antonio and the sales was supported to both the locations in Germany as well as the US. The 328 with turboprops engine was noise and faced reliability issues. Fairchild Dornier developed a new design that used turbo fans on 328-300 models. The engine type is popularly known as Jet, thus 328JET name arrived.

The newly built aircraft shared the same cabin arrangement as the 328 Dornier. Fairchild Dornier also has started the development of 428JET which is a 44 seat version of the 328JET. Soon the company started to face financial difficulties and started to close down production for its aircraft. Further financing for Fairchild Aircraft became difficult for the company and they finally decided to end the production of the 328JET on early 2000. And in 2002 the company applied for insolvency. The manufacturing rights of the Fairchild Dornier 328JET were sold to AvCraft Aviation in 2003. Production right brought in the 32 seat 328JET and the 428JET.

Fairchild aircraft was going to see a better future. In 2004 the AvCraft negotiated with equipment suppliers in order bring the Fairchild Dornier 328JET back into production. The decision to bring the Dornier back to production was because other aircraft manufactured from AvCraft weren’t profitable. Even the new strategy couldn’t work and in 2005 AvCraft filled for bankruptcy.
