Van Trang 'Jang Doll' wins Y Ty Mua Vang 42km: 'I run with my legs, not with people's mouths'

Van Trang, also known as Jang Doll, made a bold statement at the Y Ty Mua Vang 2026 race held on September 6, 2026, in Lao Cai. She finished the 42km course in 4 hours 26 minutes, ranking first among women and second overall, ahead of almost all male runners. The mother of four, born in 2026, conquered a brutal trail with more than 1,300 meters of elevation gain. Soon after her victory, she faced body-shaming comments in online running groups, but she responded fiercely: "I challenge anyone to run 42km carrying two pomelos! I run with my legs, not with my looks." Van Trang stressed that sportswomen should be recognized for determination and achievement, not judged by physical appearance. She refused to change her clothes to avoid criticism, saying athletic wear must be comfortable and safe. Her next targets include the VMM 70km ultra trail and a 100km race by the end of the year. She concluded: "Only achievements should speak. I don't need to be the version others want to see, just a better version of myself every day."
